Pope Francis, and troubled times ahead

1 Cor 3:11 For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is.

Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Argentina  has been elected as Pope Francis of the Catholic Church thus becoming the head of more than 1 billion catholic christians around the world.

Pope Francis has an interesting past being known for his war against gays in 2010, and his alleged failure to take a strong stance against the far right junta who ruled Argentina from 1976 to 1983.

In his war against gays, Cardinal Bergoglio was quoted as saying:-

"At stake is the identity and survival of the family: father, mother and children. At stake are the lives of many children who will be discriminated against in advance, and deprived of their human development given by a father and a mother and willed by God. At stake is the total rejection of God’s law engraved in our hearts.”

“Let’s not be naïve, we’re not talking about a simple political battle; it is a destructive pretension against the plan of God. We are not talking about a mere bill, but rather a machination of the Father of Lies that seeks to confuse and deceive the children of God.”

On his connection as the head of the Jesuits to the right wing generals who once ruled Argentina, the good Cardinal Bergoglio had refused twice to testify, and when finally came to court was evasive in his replies.   I don't blame him for sleeping with the devil to save the church! Indeed Cardinal Bergoglio had sacrificed the priests in the slums who were influenced by the liberation theology movement.

Cardinal Bergoglio was known for his worship of Madonna. Why are they so concerned about the apparent sins of gay marriage whilst they are worshipping other spiritual deities!

The Pope was elected on 13-3-13, at 3.13 (EST), a strange coincidence of numbers:-

Rev 13: 3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast.

Rev 13: 13 He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men.

Pope Francis also became a Jesuit Priest at age 33.

The coming of the Pope was also preceeded by strange signs from the heavens such as a direct lightning strike on the dome of St. Peter and a comet hitting Rusia. Is this the start of a period of tribulation for the church? in-line with the third secret of Fatima!

On his first day, Pope Francis paid homage to worship and pray to Fatima/ Madonna (and not Jesus) as the foundation stone of the church. Perhaps the Madonna had helped the Holy Father, or he needs her guidance.

The cardinals have chosen a very popular cadinal from the new spanish world who has the largest Catholic population yet increasingly in battle with the rise of the Charismatic Evangelicals in Latin and South America.

The election of a Jesuit after the name of St. Francis of Assisi seems to be the resultant of an internal power struggle within the church between the Italian Bishops and right wing groups. Pope Francis was not your typical left leaning Jesuit, but a strict conservative with links to an organization similar to Opus Dei. For the last two popes, Pope John Paul II, and Pope Benedict were strong supporters of Opus Dei, an powerful and extreme wealthy branch of the church under direct control by the Pope.

Instead Pope Francis was said to be aligned with a right wing Catholic group in Italy called "Communion and Liberation" (CL), an Italian version of Opus Dei although less secretive. Their interesting theological prayer is "Veni Sancte Spiritus, Veni Per Mariam", or "Come Holy Spirit, Come Through Mary". Biblically, the Holy Spirit came through Jesus Christ who sends the Holy Spirit. I am not sure what spirit that Mary will give them!

CL is often an agressive and combative politically as seen by their declaration of war against gays in Argentina. They are highly active in italian politics and supporting Silvio Berlusconi. The majority of Italian Bishops including Archbishop of Milan Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini instead supported Catholic Action and sought to restrain the influence of CL. But CL had the support of Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict. And it seems that the Italian Bishops lost in the election for the Pope.

The "Communion and Liberation" is often mixed up with Progressive Liberation Theology because of a similar sounding name, but they are totally different.

Cardinal Bergoglio was not your typical independently minded Jesuit but a strict conservative who according to the Guardian in an article entitled "Pope Francis: a man of joy and humility, or harsh and unbending? reported

"He was also fiercely opposed to liberation theology, which, with its radical elision of Christ's teachings and economics, attracted so many of the priests ministering to the poorest people of the Latin America in the 1970s and 80s. " The Guradian

Being the 1st Jesuit Pope, Pope Francis distanced himself from his Jesuit background when he chose St. Francis of Assisi instead of Saint Francis Xavier who was the first Jesuit Saint.

Why did the previous Pope Benedict chose to resign when he didn't have to and it would be against the churches' practise setting a new precedence? It was rumoured that there were reports that a major corruption/crisis of faith has hit the highest pinnacle of the church. The Pope also had accessed to the "Third Secret of Fatima or Madonna" that speaks of troubled times, about Rusia, and the role of the Pope.

The foundation of the church should be on Jesus Christ, and not on a man made god or on the Madonna, nor of wordly wealth, power, and control.  Perhaps the foundations of hay, and wood is burning away and no one would like to be in the hot-seat.

Troubled times are coming of a more combative and Mary orientated church, but our sure foundation is Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.
