Matt 11:28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy
laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from
Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your
souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
A friend asked me what I thought of Lawrence Khong and
FCBC? I replied let them have a freedom of speech for it doesn't matter
any more. The world has changed, we know who we are and are contented,
made smaller by social networks and a realization that straight people
are no different than gays.
Too many lives have suffered, and are suffering
because of the likes of Lawrence Khong of FCBC, and before him, Yang
Tuck Yoong of Cornerstone, and Derek Hong of Church of Our Saviour. It
is their liberty and religious freedom to cause harm, preach falsehood,
and blaspheme against the grace of God. We just not need to be perturbed
and be at rest for there will always be such people.
They are the disciples of Christ who burns down the
Samaritan villages, or the High Priests of Jerusalem who ordered the
death of Jesus Christ. Something good happened for what was intended for
evil.
Why should we be perturbed or indignant? changes will
come for we are interconnected to the rest of the world where the change
for the better is coming for the GLBT community. Love Singapore can't
kick against the Rock. It will be painful for them.
How are we to be resurrected when all is left are dead
bones of life, health, faith, and joy.
There comes a point of Grace, where we do decide to:-
-
Rest in being true to ourselves, and sexual orientation. When you
are true to yourself, you will be happier.
-
Rest in the finished work of the Cross
-
Rest in the expectancy of God's Grace
-
Rest in the trust that God is Good and is with us.
-
Rest in the fellowship and friendship of the Holy Spirit
-
Rest in the purpose God has for our lives, of doing good and not
causing harm, and with a heart of gratitude
-
Rest in the joy of the Lord. Be slow to speak, but be quick to
listen and to praise.
Hence, it may not matter whether we suddenly find
ourselves jobless, in hardship, in deep conflict at work/reationships,
or could not retire early, or have broken relationships. God is in
control.
We can chose to rest and not react, but trust in God's
love, grace and mercy to come into our situation. For Jesus bears our
burdens when we let Him bear it at the Cross of Calvary.
In rest, it is praying all the time. Jesus is
faithful, and He is risen that our lives may also be risen.
