The church has lost some interest to do Justice and Righteousness, to defend the weak and do acts of sacrificial love. It is all about a cultural mandate with the hidden aggenda of Dominion theology being gatekeepers and moral defenders. The opposite of Dominion is Freedom.

Instead of Freedom, we put others into bondage. All the world knows is our intention to put gays in jail and to throw the keys away. This is not Christianity or a relationship with Jesus but religion and religious laws and man's attempt to reach God.

There are many movements  within the cultural mandate - Love Singapore, Honour Singapore, Crossover, etc. The theology is based on Gen 1.28. 

Gen 1:28 "Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Dominion theology is a counterfeit of God's sovereign power and royalty. We should be caretakes of nature and be shepherds rather than ranchers having dominion over the land and the sheep. Jesus is the Good Shepherd. He came not to Lord over the world, but for us to have Freedom to reach our potential, and to be reconciled with God.

Luke 10:42 But Jesus called them to Himself and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. 43 Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant. 44 And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

Christianity was never meant to dominate out of compulsion and power. Instead, the Cross is our symbol of sacrificial love for others, and the power over death. In reality, The world and her religious faiths will never let the christian church have dominion over them.

When cultural mandate comes in, we risk a slippery journey.  And it is not due to gay marriage. Twenty years ago, City Harvest Church was already at the 1,000 mark. But real growth came, when they became a church without walls, going into social welfare issues. Their vision was 

"To build a church with a strong spiritual atmosphere of faith and purity,  where every member is released into ministry,  discipled in the Great Commandment  to obey the Great Commission"

A few years later, when their mission suceeded resulting in growth passing the 10,000 mark, they changed their mission to one of a cultural mandate which is based on Gen 1:28 being the Dominion theology:-

"To build a church with a strong spiritual atmosphere of faith and purity,  where every member is released into ministry,  discipled in the Great Commandment  to obey the Great Commission  and the Cultural Mandate. "

The cultural mandate didn't actually bring more salvations. The cultural mandate actually brought down CHC.

Church growth came because of a strong evangelistic culture and commission to share the Gospel Good News. 

It was not due to a cultural mandate with its church organised free concerts, mass encourangement of CD buying, conflict of interests, church funded secular events, pop star promotion, sham investments using building funds, and expensive MTVs. It became a self benefit in the disguise of evangelism.

Yet, we need not apologize for our faith and hope in Jesus Christ, nor apologize for the need for mankind to be saved. But we are not the Savior, Jesus is. Our evangelism need not be hidden nor discrete like the City Harvest Cross Over.

 We can't hide our light beneath the Hill if we truly reflect Christ unless our light was darkness which needs to be hidden from public view for outside we may wear white but inside skeletons of hypocrisy.

 How do we change Singapore? Love Singapore tried to make this a Christian country by advocating Christian laws. But Blibical Christianity is not based on the OT laws. It never was. They were called out from the Jewish faith.

We can't make Singapore a Christian country by demand or by a hidden aggenda to change laws because faith is personal, its a freedom of choice.

Why did Christianity spread like wildfire in the 1st century AD. Because it offered definitive salvation and the way to God as a gift of righteousness in Jesus Christ. The demands were simple, only by faith. And the manifestation and the power of the Holy Spirit confirmed the witness of the scriptures and letters by the Apostles. Law came in when the church was institutionalised by the Romans. But church was never intended to be hierachal.

CHC tried to change Singapore to be Christian, via its cultural mandate. But it had struggled. Love Singapore is trying to enter the power structures of Singapore with gays as a wedge issue. They too lost to Pink Dot despite having an unchallenged platform every Sunday to preach their anti-gay message. Christianity is not really what you do, but whose you are or belong to. It is right believing that results in right actions, and not vice versa.

In Singapore, the general culture is to worship success and wealth, and to worship self. Hence, we have a very self righteous ad law centered kind of Christianity rather than Christ centered. It puts people in bondage. It is Freedom we must preach.

People need Hope, rest, peace, and love. In order for the world to know the Christian Faith by our love and the power of the Holy Spirit, we are not to dominate over others, but to give them Freedom.

In order to change the prevailing culture of self in Singapore, we offer nothing but "FREEDOM" which signifies

F              Fairness

R              Righteousness

E               Equality

E                Empathy

D               Dignity

O               Openness

M             Mercy

When we preach FREEDOM, we give freedom and space to others to live and be who God created them to be. We are only Free when others are Free. We want others to be Free because Jesus has set us Free, to be with God, to be His arms and legs to declare God's redemption, rest, love, grace and mercy.

John 8: 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

For one day, all will know that the ultimate freedom is in Jesus Christ, His life, death and resurrection bringing me into the Throne room of God to be at peace amd at rest with God and man having been justified by Faith. Christian Freedom comes in a right standing with God and not in domination.

Therefore Being justified by faith (Jesus People)

Therefore being justified by faith We have peace with God  Through our Lord Jesus Christ

Because the love of God is shed abroad In our hearts, by the Holy Spirit

Which is given, which is given Unto us, to us, to us.

God hath commended His love toward us In that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us

Let us have "Freedom Singapore"
