"Ever since the reign of Henry VIII the Church of England has
been the country's official religion, facing down threats to its
establishment as severe and varied as the Spanish Armada and the
English Civil War. That senior clergy have raised concerns about
same-sex marriage in a similar context indicates how seriously
they view the Government's attempt to redefine marriage – as a
potential attack on the role of the Church itself." Gay marriage is one of worst threats in 500 years, says
Church of England, The Independent 12 June 12
The church sees Gay marriage and by deduction, gays themselves,
being out and open having the same basic rights as straight
people being
a real threat to the very existence of the church.
This is overly dramatic for the presence of Gay marriage
in the US has not caused the downfall of the church and has
become a non issue. When gay marriage is legalised in Britain,
it should be a non-event.
Mat 5:31 “It has been said, ‘Anyone who divorces his wife must
give her a certificate of divorce.’32 But I tell you that anyone
who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her
the victim of adultery, and anyone who marries a divorced woman
commits adultery.
Ironically, the "mother church", the Church of England gained
her freedom from the Pope through a gross and diabolical attack
on marriage. Not only did Henry VIII re-married and quickly
divorced his wives, they mostly ended up in the gallows. If this
was the dark tradition of the marriage institution the church is
trying to uphold, we can see why the wholseome and sacrificial love
between two same sex persons are a threat.
The self sacrificial love of gay couples despite all odds and
challenges and the lack of support by the state and the church
to uphold their marriage is sadly contrasted in how loosely
straight people even the British King/Queen who is Head of the church of England had regarded marriage:-
a. In 1936, King Edward VIII proposed marriage to a Wallis
Simpson, a twice divorsee.
b. In 1996, Prince Charles formally divorced from Princess
Diana, and remarried a divorsee Camilla Parker Bowles. The
British tabloids played juicy recordings way back to 1989 even
before of the formal divorce revealing a graphic intimacy
between his future wife.
The Christian Church is seemingly hypocritical reserving
marriage and all its abuses for themselves, whilst denying
marriage to the most loving same sex couples purely on account
of their same sex orientation.
Gay marriage is a serious threat to the church because it
highlights the harm and gross injustice against gays perpetuated
by the church in the last 500 years. If gay marriage was to be
legalised, it would be deemed as a confirmation and affirmation
that gays have been denied their due justice.
By legalizing gay marriage, it is affirming that being gay is
innate and therefore deserving of the same basic rights as
straight people. With gay marriage, all the basic rights of
straight people will be at last bestowed upon gays. It marks the
start of the end of discrimination by the church against gays
and the condemnation against gays as sinners.
If being gay was not a sin, it would destruct the very basis of
the church - not just its moral authority which is seen to have
been abused and hypocritical against gays, but the very basis of
faith, the Bible will be challenged. Gays have been bashed up
using the bible and very existence of gays will desconstruct the
theology of the church.
The very authority of the church based on the bible will be
challenged because we have used the bible in our crusade against
gays and by gay marriage, we have lost the argument, and the
bible torn into two.
Hab 2:12 “Woe to him who builds a city with bloodshed and
establishes a town by injustice!
The church has been built upon using gays as the vedge issue for
support, mobilization of Christians against a common
indignation. Gays are a useful victim to rail our righteous
indignation because they are too small and weak to defend
themselves.
The rise of the Christian Right in America in the 80s, and 90s
have been largely built upon a political awakening using gays as
the focal point against the liberals. With the threat of gays,
and the intention to deny gays the basic of rights, Christians
were mobilized and political parties were put in power.
As we rail against gays, so many gay people have died throughout
the 500 years where their basic rights have been denied and the
doors shut for them to enter the Kingdom of God. They were put
to death much like the Anglican and Methodist churches are now
intending to do in Africa in the name of Christianity.
The church is still refusing to open the doors of the church to
gays and even insisting that the rights of gays in society
outside the church walls be restricted.
Matt 11:12 From the days of John the Baptist until now, the
kingdom of heaven has been subjected to violence, and violent
people have been raiding it.
I saw a vision of the baterring ram against the castle of
a large church. The archbishop was at the gate determined to
stop the threat. Instead, the baterring ram turned unto
the walls of the church and it fell. The entire walls fell and
only the gates were left standing.
Gay marriage is a threat because it is a battering ramp to
tear down the door the church has locked shut against gays. But
alas, the door will stand with the priests and the pastors
refusing to open the doors, but the entire castle walls will go
down.
The walls of the church is coming down, the mighty and the
greatest of religious institutions brought down by the weakest
tribe in society. The first shall be the last, and the last
first for such is the Kingdom of God.
When the church failed to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and
stayed within the castle and put gays in the dungeons, the
barbarians will invade Rome again and bring it down.
The time of Gospel revival amongst the least in society is nigh.
The wind and move of the Holy Spirit is quickening. Prepare ye
the way for the mighty move of God. The latter rain of the Holy
Spirit is coming.
Come Holy Spirit - rain down upon the church - bring down its
walls that all are welcomed into the Kingdom of God.
