"It is plain, then, that these arguments against decriminalizing
homosexual acts wither down to little more than an intuitive disgust for
homosexual activity. Should our law-making be governed by this intuitive
disgust? I hope not" Decriminalising

"Given that section 377A PC criminalises homosexuality whether done
private or publicly, we are of the view that a similar prohibition ought
to be enacted in respect of lesbianism, considering that lesbianism
(like homosexuality) is also abhorrent and deviant, whether consensual
or not.'" National Council of Churches

Mat 7:1
“Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with what judgment you judge,
you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured
back to you.
In 2007, in Singapore, during the attempt to repeal
the 377a law against gays, the National Council of Churches in Singapore
urged the Government to maintain the legislation which criminalizes same
sex acts, and perhaps not only enforcing it but to extend it to
Lesbians.
Therefore gays are to be persecuted to the full
extent of the law for something innocent their same sex orientation. For
many Christians, there is no need to go to court for trial, but to jail
gays and throw the key away.
The mega churches along with their
Anglican/Methodist churches are the key instigators of an anti-gay
crusade not only in Asia but in the Global South. The "gay aggenda" in
the market place must be stopped they cried out with shouts of religious
indignation.
In the current court cases in Singapore involving
key mega church leaders charged for criminal breaches of trust for
financial misappropriations of millions, should the same manner of
judgement be morally applied as they have done so against the gay
community?
It is a deliberate and carefully planned choice and
decision to do elaborate financial breaches of trust over a decade but
not a choice to be born gay.
We don't choose yet we are considered guilty whilst
those given a choice are showered the benefit of doubt and show of
undying support by the mega masses. They are not guilty until
proven and after all the appeals which will drag on for years. We are
guilty as charged.
The loud cries of innocense and integrity by the
mega churches fills the airways but the facts of the matter knows no
religion. We have heard their loud cries before of condemnation and
judgement.
Yet, we walk by grace and not the letter of the
law.
Since the church has insisted that gays be put into
jail for two years having consensual sex for something so innocent, they
have set themselves a low bar of judgement for their financial misdeeds.
Since NCCS has judged against gays when we are
innocent, and even insisted on the fullest penalty of the law, the bar
of judgement is so low that even the best and most expensive advocates
need a miracle.
Yet, we found none to advocate for us.
They have spoken out loud judgement against us
whilst we are asked to keep quiet because the secular court of the land
is handling the case. Can the unrighteous judge the righteous? Yet,
perhaps some are less holy than the secular court.
How long shall we keep silent? for we have cried
out to Jesus day and night for justice and redemption. How long shall we
wait O Lord?
------------------------------------------------
Turn O Lord, every rock and every white washed tomb.
Let nothing be hidden for they have taken our clothing O God and have
thrown it away. We are naked, abused and condemned by all in the church
and in society. We are naked and have no where to hide.
The innocent was judged guilty by the church
in Singapore. We have suffered much more than the 2 years sentence under
the 377a law. For many, it is 25 years in the closet and denied the
freedom to love and be loved.
We have suffered a life sentence many times over
and our cry of innocense quenched by the loud chorus of the church and
their throngs of mega supporters. But You O Lord surely have heard the
cry of the oppressed! and not let the oppressor go free.
Many have lived their life, lonely, hidden in pain
and suffering of relationships and love denied because they were gay. It
was a life sentence. Why O Lord should our suffering and pain be
forgotten? whilst those who persecute us stay in their large Cathedrals
of titanium walls!
For many, our lives are over. We lament of what
could have been and what was taken from us by those who put on the
pedestal their high religious morality against us they deemed abhorrent
and deviant sinners of the worst kind.
They are righteous and holy but we the vile
sinners. Yet Lord, do have have mercy on us sinners, for your Son bidst
us to welcome home.
We are looking forward to the banquet of Your Son
Jesus, for there all are welcome and none shall be denied. We are hungry
and thirsty Lord, but many of us no longer have strength to walk to Your
table.
Why would a just God give grace and mercy for those
who have not shown it but who had insisted on the letter of the law
without any mitigation such that even the innocent suffers and cries out
to God? This is indeed a mystery for judgement belongs to God alone and
not even in the courts of men.
The mega churches have been so adamant of the Ten
Commandments and the law, and have insisted that those who did not abide
by it fully is guilty of cheap grace and causing lawlessness. Why don't
you take them to their word O Lord God of Israel?
Yet God is good and does not see our faults and
does not keep an account of our iniquities and hopefully does not
remember the things we say nor how we have condemned the innocent to
their spiritual deaths.
It doesn't really matter what the judgement be on
the mega church pastors charged - be it 20 years or a large fine or even
being let go free. Surely, they are innocent and of integrity because
they say so. We are immoral sinners because they say so or so they say.
Yet why do we listen to our oppressors? We are not
free until we see ourselves as beautiful and begin to listen to Your
love songs to us. We are wonderfully created in Your mighty hands O God!
Lord we know not how to give love, grace and mercy.
Jesus You died for us. We have died many times as well. Raise us up with
You O Lord that in our emptiness and nothingness, in our naked humility,
locked up in cages of the closets built by the people of faith, that we
can forgive ourselves as we forgive those who has transgressed against
us.
We are buried in the ground, there are no Queen's
Senior Counsel to defend us, we are guilty as charged for being gay. Our
bones are dry and our flesh rot in the ground. Our hope is no more. Our
eyes are dimmed but surely we can hear the sounds of thunder and rushing
wind. For our redemption is near.
Lord God, we don't urge for the mega churches
to face the current legislation or the full measure of the Law, for we
have long forgotten what is justice nor expect to see it in the land of
the living.
We don't delight to see even the guilty receive
their due reward, for we yearn for your grace and mercy in Christ Jesus.
Yet Lord, we pray that You will remember us, and
not passed us by but raise us up O Lord to live in the land of the living.
