An impossible peace without God

ברוך הבא בשם יהוה
"Baruch Haba B'Shem Adonai"
"Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!"
Psalm 118:25-28
Matt 21:6-9

Judea was conquered by the Arab armies in 638, and they had refused to let go of this land after 1400 years not even giving Israel a small undefensible land (pre-1967 boundaries), and eagerly uniting to push back Israel into the sea in the 1967 war. The war backfired, and they lost much of the land conquered in 638 AD.

When we read the bible, we often forget that the events and cities referred to, is not a large state such as UK or Italy, but a very small tiny state. By the time of the 1948 armistice, ie pre-1967 wars, Israel was virtually undefensible (far worst than Singapore). Consider the following:-

From Jordan (based on CNN report),

- the Israeli city of Netanya on the Mediterranean was 9 miles

- to Beersheeba, 10 miles

- and to Tel Aviv, 11 miles

The aim of the Arab armies which initiated the war was very simple. In the CNN report, it was said that ""The Egyptian newspaper al Akhbar noted: "Under the terms of the military agreement signed with Jordan, Jordanian artillery, coordinated with the forces of Egypt and Syria, is in a position to cut Israel in two at Qalqilya, where Israeli territory between the Jordan armistice line and the Mediterranean Sea is only 12 kilometres (7 miles) wide.""

The creation of a Palestinian state in Gaza is also unlikely because it is too small and too cramped. They have only 45 sq km, and a population of 450,000. There was a huge influz of refugees into Gaza after 1948 making it so much bigger in population.

There are a number of main ancient blibical cities belonging to Israel in the West Bank and will be difficult to be handed back to the Palestinians:-

- Jericho, 11 miles from the dead sea

- Shiloh

- Bethelehem

- Hebron

- Bethel (Ramallah)

- Sechem (Nablus)

- Ai and Bethany

(Ezek 36:1 NKJV) "And you, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel, and say, 'O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the LORD!

(Ezek 36:2 NKJV) 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Because the enemy has said of you, 'Aha! The ancient heights have become our possession,'" '

When we talk about a just peace, we have fogotten about God that most of these lands have been given as possession to Israel. That was why the 1967 war which whereby the Arab armies descended upon a small strip of land failed to disloged Israel was because the land was ordained to belong to Israel.

The Arab nations are of couse, not "just" nations, killing their gay population at will and persecuting and hunting them unlike Israel who had provided cities of refuge such as Tel-Aviv for the fleeing gay arabs. Groups such as Hamas are the most militant anti-gay groups and anti-women as well.

They had mocked God and the God of Israel in Eze 36:1, and the ancient of heights in these mountain areas of Hebron, Bethel, and Sechem has become the pocession of Israel.

Yet, there seem to be no justice for the Palestinians displaced in the 1947 and 1967 conflicts. There can never be a return to the 1967 borders, for Israel has a righteful place of existence. The demographics are complicated with Israel having many settlement cities in the mountains of Judea/West Bank.

Only peace will come when the they agree to share the small little dot they have, for it is too small a place to carve up another nation with too many historical and religious claims.

In 1967, the Arabs had East Jerusalem, and could have set up a Palestinian state with Gaza and the West Bank. Yet, they wanted to kill Israel, to push them into the Mediterranean sea. Whilst many queer folks rejoiced at the apparent struggle for justice and freedom in the Arab world, they are united in their hatred for Israel. The common message is "Death to Israel", the founding of Israel in 1948 is called Nakba or the "day of catastrophy".

In essense much of the land taken in the 1967 war has already been given back - Sinai to Eygpt, and Gaza now under the Palestinian rule. Returning all the land won in 1967 is mockery of justice as it makes no effect the lost of the Arabs to Israel in that war, nor the ill intention of the Arab countries resulting in a major backlash of defeat. They suffered the defeat and should accept the consequences. Nor should Israel returned the land that was taken from them by the Romans in the first place, conquered later by the Arabs in AD638. Israel had every right to take it back.

If peace was just as simple as giving back the 1967 lands, then why have the war in the first place. It is because the Arab hated Israel for the hand of God is upon Israel. They are God's people ever since the land they are in now were given them by God. The land is their inheritance. It is a religious battle between competing spiritual forces.

(Num 22:31 NKJV) Then the LORD opened Balaam's eyes, and he saw the Angel of the LORD standing in the way with His drawn sword in His hand; and he bowed his head and fell flat on his face.

(Num 22:32 NKJV) And the Angel of the LORD said to him, "Why have you struck your donkey these three times? Behold, I have come out to stand against you, because your way is perverse before Me.

(Num 22:33 NKJV) "The donkey saw Me and turned aside from Me these three times. If she had not turned aside from Me, surely I would also have killed you by now, and let her live."

The Arabs had tried to destroy Israel many times as they enter the promised land - now Judea and Samaria. Even Balaam who cursed Israel from afar knew not that his actions were against God and he was almost killed by the Angel of God. Even the donkey knew and saw what was coming.

Our calls for peace sacrificing Israel's righteful inheritance and denying them the very city of Jerusalem, so central to their faith and history, may be as dangerous of Balaam going against Israel. But there are no donkeys warning us this time around.  The anti-gay militant groups against Israel such as Hamas will face a spiritual opposition and they will be long gone before ever able to enter Jerusalem, the City of God.
