John 1:23 He said: “I am ‘The voice of one crying in the wilderness:
“Make straight the way of the Lord,”’ as the prophet Isaiah said.” .
Many GLBT churches are
uncomfortable about the truth, about the Messiah, the Lamb of God who
takes away our sins.
In a way, the Roman
church and her child, the Protestant church has put the entire sins of
the church and society upon the small gay community.
Condemnation kills. It
is a heavy weight and burden we bear. It makes people see their lives as
less than God intended.
GLBT churches offering
only an open door to faith will only see a revolving door, because this
burden that is continually placed on us can only be discharged by
placing on the Lamb of God.
Good works of love does
not clean us. Only the cleansing water, the cleansing blood of Jesus
will suffice.
It pains me that GLBT
churches have such a big revolving door, for we faced the hurting,
wounded and the condemned. We offer them band-aid and felt troubled when
they leave as if they have taken so much and leave the church.
In truth, we offered
them little. People leave because we have nothing to offer except fuzzy
love and humanistic spirituality.
The revolving door at
many GLBT churches when they are the only inclusive church in many cases
in the entire city and even nation should be a point of earnest self
reflection and prayer.
We don't need to love
more. We don't even need to confess our sins more in our solemn
communion. We have to believe that Jesus was and is who He claimed to be
- God Himself, and the Lamb of God. We are so self righteous that we do
not place our condemnation on the Lamb of God.
The way of the Lord is
to empty ourselves and to place our condemnation upon Jesus. It is that
simple, nothing of ourselves and all of Jesus.
The straight churches
are so antagonistic of GLBT inclusive churches because they know deep
within their hearts that the grace of God is extended to the GLBT
community. It is grace that worries Law minded people.
John the Baptist made
straight the way of the Lord by declaring that the Messiah was coming,
and in pre-empting the ministry of Jesus begin to baptise people, with
water signifying the cleansing of sins.
Why did the spiritually
hungry and thirsty came from afar to the voice crying in the desert?
Because they were under
heavy religious oppression by the Law, and by the religious authorities.
Each morning they would
pray the Shema of Israel, of loving God, and loving others. But they
failed and felt condemned.
John didn't offer them
the way of love? He offered them a lifting of condemnation not because
God is a God of love per say, but because the Lamb of God, their Messiah
would bear their sins.
Theology is not about
venturing into the far left or far right, as if making people
uncomfortable makes our non blibical chrisitianity right! Diverse views
are more often found in the middle.
Our theology, our study
of God is limited and many times speculative. Often it is sterile
intellectualism without any emotional faith experiences. For we often
worship our intellect and humanistic reasoning rather than listen to the
small voice of the Holy Spirit.
Hence, we need to see
Christ. John the Baptist was blown away as he saw Jesus and proclaimed:-
John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said,
“Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!30 This is
He of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man who is preferred before me, for
He was before me.’ 31 I did not know Him; but that He should be revealed
to Israel, therefore I came baptizing with water.”
John didn't offer
Himself. He stood down and pointed the way to Jesus Christ.
We are to prepare the
way of the Lord, His coming back again.
John the Baptist
prepared the way by declaring Jesus, His death and resurrection as the
Lamb of God to bear our sins.
Jesus has already died
and risen.
We are to prepare the
Way of the Lord, which is the return of the Lord to bring us Home to
heaven.
Just like Noah, the way
of love is to enter the Ark of Jesus Christ, for it is Truth and the
Grace of God. It is denial and not of love if we did not proclaim that
the flood is coming.
We find ourselves in
the desert where hungry Gay people come to seek God! and they will find
peace only in Jesus Christ, when they call Him Lord and Saviour. For in
Christ, there is no condemnation.
Behold the Lamb of God!
Jesus Christ. It is time to put on Christ our pain, sorrow, sufferings,
condemnation for He came to bear all that we might live again.
When we place the
condemnation that society and the church have placed on us on the Lamb
of God, Jesus Christ, we are released. We are free to be. The way of
salvation is through the cleansing waters of the blood of the Lamb which
often GLBT churches do not proclaim.
Behold the Lamb of God,
who was and is, and is to come. Come to the Living waters and be
cleansed for the Lord is coming back for a church that is not only
straight but gay.
Our home is in heaven.
Let us prepare the way of the Lord, the way back to a new heaven to come
with Jesus Christ at the Throne.
