President Obama reiterated a long time American position that the borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 borders before the 6th day war before Isarael captured East Jerusalem, the Golan Heights, Sinai Peninsula, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

At the face of it, this was a reasonable proposition for peace in return of the land taken over by Israel. Yet, Israel will receive peace that could be revoked at any time, nor will security be guaranteed without space to defend. Complicating the issue was that the land actually belonged to Israel, the cities therein mentioned in the bible where the Jews had lived. They were expelled from the lands by the Romans does not negate their historical ownership of the land. The Palestinians have historically owned their strip of land in the ancient Philistine. They never had the Old City of Jerusalem which belonged to Israel.

Reverting back to the 1967 borders means losing ancient Jerusalem, the Old City located in East Jerusalem. When Israel won the 6 day war in 1967, the plans by the Arab nations to drive Israel back to the sea failed and they lost for God was with Israel. Far overwhelmed and surrounded on all sides, defending a very small land mass, the victory was a miracle.

Reverting back to pre-1967 borders is an attempt to turn back history, to turn back the blibical moments when Israel came back to Jerusalem after 2,000 years of absence. God is faithful and He had brought His people back and this will not be taken from them.

The issue is made complicated by the fact that East Jerusalem and the West Bank are occupied by the Jews many eager to lived in the cities of their ancestors in the very lands of Judea and Samaria. As of 2009, a total of 304,569 Israelis lived in the West Bank, 192,000 in East Jerusalem, and 20,000 lived in Golan Heights. Prime Minister Netanyahu responded strongly to the suggestion to revert to 1967 borders claiming that it was indefensible, and that Obama "....does not understand the reality, doesn't understand what we face" in Israel. Indeed, just going back to 1967 without understanding the rest of the history is not reasonable.

The people of Israel has lost too much, 6 million killed and their land and homes dispossed in Europe during World War Two by the Europeans(Germans). They had longed to return to their ancient home in jerusalem in Judea whom they were exiled some 1930 years ago in AD70. Since AD70, the people of Israel had been roaming in the European/Asia Minor diaspora without a place called Home until the re-creation of the nation of Israel in 1948. Hitherto, more often than not, they had suffered extreme abuse, rejection, and discrimination over 2,000 years.

Hence, for the 500,000 staying in West Bank and East Jerusalem, they will never move from the lands of their heritage, after finding a place called Home after 2000 years of rejection. Obama suggestion is not insightful as it was not about the 1967 borders, but is about the land that the Romans (modern day Europe) took away from the Jews 2,000 years ago.

Israel's ownership of West Bank and East Jerusalem, goes way back, much further back that the 1967 boundaries. In the bible, East Jerusalem was part of the ancient Jerusalem which was the capital of Israel in the Roman Times. In fact ancient Jerusalem or the "Old City" is part of East Jerusalem. The emotional climax of the 1967 war was the entry of Israel Soldiers to reclaim the Old City after 2,000 years of absence.

(Luke 21:24 NKJV) "And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

Hence, the entry into Jerusalem represented the return of the city to Israel after the rule of non-Jews or Gentiles for more than 2,000 years during which time more than a million died in Jerusalem killed by the Romans in AD70 and then led away to captivity in Europe only to be slaughtered again by the Germans in WWII with more than 6 million death. The Jews had more than paid their dues and the time of the Gentiles in Jerusalem was finally over. Jerusalem, the Old city in the East Jerusalem was finally returned to her righteful owners. The time of gentiles is over and not even President Obama can revert to the 1967 boundaries.

The 1967 war was not started by Israel, but with the Arab nations amassing at her borders determined to crushed the fledging nation. The Egyptans to the South was gathering with more than 100,000 troops and a thousand tanks and another thousand artilerry pieces. To the North, Syria had amassed 75,000 troops and looking east, Jordan had readied 55,000 troops. Jordan had even assumed that its troops will reach Tel-Aviv in 3 days.

The war started on June 05, 1967, and two days later on June 7, Israel troops entered the Old City of Jerusalem via the Lion's Gate, and then captured Western Wall and the Temple Mount. They proceeded on to capture the West Bank, an endeavour which was unplanned.

America was essentially a historical extension of Europe, founded by the British in the 17th century. Europe represents the ancient Roman Empire who had ransacked Jerusalem and Judea and expelled them to all parts of the World. Hence, the root cause of the issue is Romans, their descendents, the Europeans or the USA having little moral right to dictate that Israel have no right to the Old City of East Jerusalem.

The stone is cast and Jesus is coming back, maybe not tommorow but some day. The Jews have been waiting for the Messiah promised to them and they will not be dissapointed nor will God forsake them forever. For they will find and return to God, in that Holy City of Jerusalem. There can be no lasting peace, except for having peace with God through Jesus Christ, son of David, son of Abraham, Son of God.
