Rev. James Dobson - Christian False Witness against Gays
|
The Rev. James Dobson of Focus on Family has justified his position on gay families by citing the work of renowned researchers such as Dr. Carol Gilligan, of Harvard and University of Cambridge, Dr. Kyle Pruett, professor at Yale. and Angela Phillips, professor at Goldsmiths College. However, they have in turn strongly declared that Rev. Dobson has grossly misrepresented their work and the context of their publication. Dr Giligan wrote a letter to Dobson demanding that he “cease and desist from quoting my research in the future.” Dr Giligan reiterated that “Not only did you take my research out of context, you did so without my knowledge to support discriminatory goals that I do not agree with,” “What you wrote was not truthful and I ask that you refrain from ever quoting me again and that you apologize for twisting my work.”
“You cherry-picked a phrase to shore up highly, in my view, discriminatory purposes,” wrote Dr Pruett in a letter to Dobson. “This practice is condemned in real science, common though it may be in pseudo-science circles. There is nothing in my longitudinal research or any of my writings to support such conclusions (about same-gender families).”
“It has come to my attention that my book ‘The Trouble with Boys’ has been seriously misrepresented in writings by James Dobson,” Dr Phillipswrote to Focus on the Family. “I would be grateful if you could publish this letter prominently on your website.” Rev Dobson will never apologize to Dr. Gilligan or stop using Dr. Pruett’s research or place Professor Phillips’ letter on his website.
Why do we falsely testify to the detriment of others so that they could be maliciously denied justice? It comes out of our hearts. Many claim to be Christians, yet not only do they lie, but do so deliberately with the intention to maliciously wound the other party. It is a carnal mind, a carmal heart, a mind unrenewered by the saving Grace of God. As we Rev Dobson continue his crusade against gays, out of his mouth shall we truly see his heart, an unclean heart that would defile him and his ministry. In Mark 14:57, false accusation were being made against Jesus which ultimately led to His conviction and death. The Gay community should take consolation that the religious authorities in His days made up false accusations to condemned Jesus to death. Their very descendents are seemingly here today, the religious fundamentalist, outwardly moral but inwardly dead and full of skeletons like a white wash tomb said Jesus. As Focus on Family is a major Christian Institution and claimed to be bible honouring, by giving false witness against Gays, they are ultimately bearing false witness to Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. To many and to the world, the public face of Christianity is represented by the likes Rev. James Dobson. This is a position of great privelages, power and responsibility that must be taken very seriously, for Rev. James is essentially representing Christ. His bearing of false witness, brings much dishonour to the body of Christ and the message of the Gospel. Ultimately, the sin against God is many times the magnitude of the sin against Gays. May God have mercy. Likewise, Rev Dobson has level charges against gays by misquoting the bible, confusing the dispensation of Law and Grace, confusing the condemnation against pagan worship and homosexuality between loving couples. Hence, he was misquoting the author of the bible, the Holy Spirit who has inspired the Word of God. The Holy Spirit would not write a letter or email to Rev. Dobson, but He would just withdraw quietly His presence and annointing. Wealth and the whole world we can ultimately gain through religion and deception, but our soul we would loose and we end up in the camp of Satan.
The preacher of the Word and the ministry of the pulpit brings great responsibility and has its own rewards but also judgement. For example there are many Liberal preachers who claimed that the bible was written 2000 years ago and may not apply in today's context quoting Catholic church tradition such as being against the use of condoms. Such remarks are weak in their arguments for many Catholic traditions are man made for their own carnal purposes many a times and not according to the Word of God and to use man made traditions as a criteria for judging the bible, we blasphemed the centrality and importance of the Word of God. Such preaching from the pulpit bears false witness against the Word God and will bring curses if we continue on this path unrepentedly. God will not bless such preaching from the pulpit and will withhold His presence as not to justify and exalt such teachings and churches. The main issue with the Christian Right and Left is that they come with preconceived notions and an ulterior motive and aggenda. They do not honor the Word of God and made it a tool for personal advancement and to justify a humnanistic theological position. They look after themselves, but not Jesus' aggenda. Father God, we pray for Rev. James Dobson. Lead him to the right path, the path of righteousness. May he repent of his grave sins before there is no turning back and the grace of God exhausted. We pray for those wounded and those turned away from your precious Son because of Focus of family. We pray for extra grace and mercy to be upon them that they may find a away back to your fold. Forgive Rev. Dobson just as you forgave us at the cross of Calvary. He has wronged us greatly but we chose to forgive for Christ has touched us deep in our hearts and we know the love of God and the depths of what he did for us at the Cross. Deal with him Lord in your own way and measure that it may bring glory to you and you alone. Forgive also those who have reacted wrongly to the excesses of the Christian Right, moving to the Left and denying your Word and the Gospel of Salvation, preaching a humanistic man centered social Gospel from the pulpit. Let them see the simplicity of the Gospel, the simple answers to a once mysterious God but now The Truth revealed through His Son Jesus Christ. Amen. |
