In Singapore, we have the notion of the conservative heartlands. But look a little deeper and you would find these heartlanders going in droves to the red light district in Geylang, and to the nearby Indonesian Island of Batam. I guess, they are still conservative as long as their own suburbs have no red lights.

They are still conservatives when there are 15,000 abortions in Singapore and the recent case of alleged corruption involving sex favors in Singapore sounded so much like many of our lives.

The truth is somewhat opposite and we maintain this lie by blaiming gays as a scapegoat.

As I was reflecting on Christianity Today's articles on the 2nd coming implicating Christian Post, a major Christian on-line publishing magazine with a branch in Singapore, it seems that growth and popularity could be gained by being perceived as a champion of Orthodoxy and conservative theology whilst hiding a true nature.

It was all about money as funds were used to exert influence in evangelical alliances and bible colleges who were suffering financially. Cult groups became their saviour and took over the operations, reputation, and track record. In the process becoming legitimate with a 100 years track record.

Their teachings appear to be bible based except in advanced studies that implied indirectly their leader as the second coming. Secrecy and half truths are practised just as the Jesuits did during the Spanish Inquisition.

The public silence from the Christian evangelical community in Singapore is deafening after the Christianity Today exposure.

The anti-gay crusade may all have been a cover up of fundamentalist cults organizations which abused the sanctity marriage through arranged arranged marriages on a large scale and having multiple wives. It was to repetitively highlight their conservative credentials. They gave an image that they were "big" and "reputable".

Satan was said to be the epitomy of deception. All the time it was not gays who were being used by Satan to attack the church, but neo-conservative cult elements within the church. The world culture is not about sexual orientation but spinning the truth.

Legitimacy can be derived by having the key Christian conservative leaders on the Editorial/Guest writers column including the Bishops in Singapore, whilst holding hidden heretical views concerning Christ.

They were being vehemently anti-gay to serve their own purpose and needs, and never cared about the harm caused or truth being denied. Their theology of righteous lying justified the end.

Yet, the last laugh is on the major christian leaders who has been linked as part of the editorial or guest writers for these magazines.

Gays are hiding in closets because of their innate same sex orientation which essentially is quite obvious to all, whilst these organizations are hiding their true heretical theological beliefs whilst posing as the ultimate in orthodoxy which is not at all obvious.

There is no statement from the National Council of Churches Singapore on this debacle, because many of their names are in it. Consider the following Christian Post SG editorial listing on 03 May 2009.

Surely all of us have been deceived one way or the other.

It is a reminder of the difficulty of being honest and thruthful in a world where there is little integrity and gays have to hide because we are persecuted by people of faith who has no issue of deception.

Many of us live in a facade to protect and hide our trueself because we are weak and vulnerable, just to survive.

Mat 10:16 I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.

Mat 10:32 “Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. 33But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven. 34“Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword

As Christians we are called not to be openly accepting of all truths and people who brings good tidings. Jesus sent us out as a sheep, an innocent and pure gentle lamb amongst wolves with their hidden aggenda and worldly theologies.

Just because they are a "minister" from a bible college doesn't mean they have any truths in a world where there are so many spiritual forces. In the Christian Post 2nd coming saga, they had bought over and operated an entire bible college.The point of judgement was in Mat 10:32, and it centers around acknowledgment of Jesus Christ.

The bible calls us to be a shrewd as a snake, but as innocent as doves. ie we live in a physical and spiritual environment where dangers and temptations lie waiting. The snake doesn't move or engaged in activities which will reveal where the animal is residing. The snake stays low and blends in with the environment yet awares of the surrounding activities and happenings.

Some Christians are humanistically minded whilst many others are either too worldly of prosperity or too spiritual of kingdom come.  The snake lying low in the ground is hard to detect yet observing the earth, the living creatures and the heavens. We are to be careful and on-guard rather than being too inclusive or too expressive.

We are to be as innocent as a dove ie not to cause harm or implicated in acts of injustice or unrighteousness. Our theology should be Spirit led yet consistent with the bible and the centrality of Christ. 

We are not asked to run an anti-gay crusade or to fight agressively for we are like doves, a people of peace and goodwill. Our spiritual and biblical beliefs should be pure and not subject to claims of heresy against the atonement message of Jesus Christ. We are to be blameless.

The dove is gentle and innocent, not agressive nor insistent on her rights and opinions. The doves moves like the wind being led by the Spirit of God. It will not engage in discussion or conversation on controversial issues in reflective theology, but brings in the light of God, the Spirit of wisdom and the supernatural power of God into the circumstances. It is the bearer of the grace of God through the Spirit of Christ.

May we be like snakes and the dove, not only to survive in a harsh and hostile physical and spiritual environment, but to bring the light of Christ and God's peace and healing to a suffering world that we may carefully discern the truth and aware of the surrounding physical and spiritual dangers.

As we again ponder on the demise of the outspoken Christian online magazine in Singapore, we recalled the ferocity for which it attacked the GLBT community with incredible half truths and vicious spins. At the end, it was hiding the fact that it was'nt very Christian in their beliefs.

Guide me O Great Jehovah through this Pilgrim Land, where I can walk centered on Christ' redeeming grace with truth, integrity, love and mercy that the light of Christ be shown through my life. Guide me to discern good from evil, life from death, freedom from bondage.

As I walk through this land, like a pilgrim with no where to sleep nor rest, Lord help me to be like a Dove and a snake that when at journey's end on the verge of the Jordan River I can cross over safely to Canaan's side and meet my redeemer Jesus Christ and come to rest like a gentle lamb beside the still living waters where I shall thirst no more and no tears shall I cry.
